Series One...

The following information has been obtained from technical information sheets that were supplied to Lambretta dealers by the Centro Ricambi at Innocenti. Those of you who are eagle eyed will notice that the Series 1 Li 150 engine numbers start with a 7. Not sure if this was a mistake on behalf of the Italians or if over the years we have got our engine number information wrong. Anyway, I've split the info into two sections 1958 and 1959 to show the changes made during those years.

1958.

  • 18.7.58 - Li 150: Steering lock replaced, grub screw changed for screw for fixing steering lock (from engine number: 708821)
  • 29.7.58 - Li 125 & 150: Rear brake - in order to avoid dust infiltration a protective hose between rear brake cable ferrule and brake pedal used (from engine number: 502222 (125), 715631 (150).
  • 1.8.58 - Li 125 & 150: Chain guide changed for an adjustable one (from engine number: 503046 (125), 716522 (150).
  • 8.8.58 - Li 150: Electrical equipment updated - new battery from 6v4/A/H to 6v5A/H, new junction box also used (from engine number: 719165)
  • 10.9.58 - Li 125 & 150: New spring plate for front brake shoes (from engine number: 508581 (125), 710871 (150)).
  • 27.10.58 - Li 125 & 150: carb air intake fixing grill removed and plastic manifold introduced (from engine number 508590 (125), 727431 (150).    
  • 27.10.58 - Li 125 & 150: passenger hand grip changed from rear to front seat (from engine number 509266 (125), 728651 (150).
  • 21.11.58 - Li 125: Electrical equipment updated - new junction box, new headlamp (from engine number 514081).
  • 13.12.58 - Li 125 & 150: new style choke cable fitted (from engine number: 518584 (125), 739491 (150).
  • 15.12.58 - Li 125 & 150: new style exhaust fitted (from engine number: 518144 (125), 739571 (150).

1959.

  • 07.03.59 - Li 125: Headlamp switch changed with new switch where screws used not only fixed it to handlebar but also to cover. From engine number 524542
  • 07.03.59 - Li 125 & 150: Handlebar levers modified to eliminate vibration. From engine numbers 528442 (125) & 753860 (150)
  • 09.03.59 - Li 125 & 150: Grease nipple assembled on backplate of front brake cam and cam pin diameter lowered. From engine numbers 527211(125) & 751436 (150)
  • 09.03.59 - Li 125 & 150: New style petrol cap fitted with breather. From engine numbers 528176 (125) & 751591 (150)
  • 12.03.59 - Li 125 & 150: Toolbox changed & single gasket used instead of 4. From engine numbers 529270 (125) & 754550 (150)
  • 24.03.59 - Li 150: New speedo drive, cable and fixing ring fitted. From engine number 751201
  • 03.07.59 - Li 125 & 150: Gasket for air intake removed due to modification of filter plastic section and addition to pipe of 2 filter cover centering tongues. From engine numbers 534176 (125) & 775198 (150)
  • 04.07.59 - Li 125 & 150: Fitted with RIV shock absorber (one ring). From engine number 533991 (125) & 778058 (150)
  • 10.07.59 - Li 125 & 150: Spark plug changed from CW225c for Marelli CW 225c. From engine numbers 533994 (125) & 781260 (150)
  • 16.07.59 - Li 125 & 150: Front brake cable instead of passing inside fork steering tube now passes outside. From engine numbers 537137 (125) & 790650 (150)
  • 22.1.59 - Li 125 & 150: in order to avoid penetration of mud through the footbvoard opening a plate was fixed to the brake pedal to act as a mudguard. From engine numbers 520810 (125) & 742261 (150)
  • 05.02.59 - Li 125 & 150: New style front forks fitted with new cone for lower ball race and new internal mudguard fitted. From engine numbers 523387 (125) & 746560 (150)
